Our Structure and Agreements
The District
The Gunnison County Fire Protection District is a Special District as designated by Colorado Revised Statutes Title 32. Special districts are established as political subdivisions of the state to provide or supplement services that other entities may not offer.
Established in 1975, the GCFPD is governed by a six member board of directors. This board employs three executive staff including the Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, and Fire Captain.
The District boundaries serve approximately 2,700 square miles, mostly centered in Gunnison County but also including a northwestern portion of Saguache county. The boundary map details exact jurisdictions.
