District - Ballot Issue
SHALL GUNNISON COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT TAXES BE INCREASED $2.47 MILLION ANNUALLY IN THE FIRST FULL FISCAL YEAR, AND BY SUCH AMOUNTS RAISED ANNUALLY THEREAFTER WITH AN 8.00 MILL PROPERTY TAX INCREASE (TO 12.50 MILLS TOTAL) FOR A TWENTY-YEAR PERIOD, AND AFTER SUCH PERIOD SUNSETTING 6.50 MILLS (TO 6.00 MILLS TOTAL), FOR THE PURPOSE OF FINANCING AND CONSTRUCTING A FIRE STATION REPLACEMENT TO (I) ENHANCE HEALTH AND SAFETY FOR VOLUNTEER FIRST RESPONDERS, (II) IMPROVE EMERGENCY RESPONSE TIMES, AND (III) PROVIDE ADEQUATE STORAGE OF FLEET AND EQUIPMENT, REPLACEMENT OF OUTDATED MECHANICAL SYSTEMS, IMPROVED DECONTAMINATION AND TRAINING SPACES AND ON-SITE SLEEPING QUARTERS; AND TO PROVIDE LONG-TERM FUNDING FOR FIRE PROTECTION, AND WILDFIRE, HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, TECHNICAL RESCUE, MEDICAL, AND OTHER EMERGENCY RESPONSE OPERATIONS, LARGELY PERFORMED BY VOLUNTEERS; WHICH INCREASE (A) SHALL NOT BECOME EFFECTIVE UNTIL SUCH TIME THAT THE CITY OF GUNNISON RECEIVES VOTER APPROVAL FOR A SIMILAR TAX; AND (B) SHALL CONSTITUTE VOTER-APPROVED REVENUE CHANGES WITHIN THE MEANING OF ARTICLE X, SECTION 20 OF THE COLORADO CONSTITUTION AND AN EXCEPTION TO THE LIMITATIONS SET FORTH IN SECTION 29-1-301 OF THE COLORADO REVISED STATUTES?
