City - Ballot Issue
SHALL CITY OF GUNNISON TAXES BE INCREASED $2.17 MILLION ANNUALLY IN THE FIRST FULL FISCAL YEAR, AND BY SUCH AMOUNTS RAISED ANNUALLY THEREAFTER WITH A 12.50 PROPERTY TAX MILL LEVY INCREASE FOR A TWENTY-YEAR PERIOD, AND AFTER SUCH PERIOD SUNSETTING 6.50 MILLS (TO 6.0 MILLS), FOR THE PURPOSE OF FINANCING AND CONSTRUCTING A FIRE STATION REPLACEMENT TO (I) ENHANCE HEALTH AND SAFETY FOR VOLUNTEER FIRST RESPONDERS, (II) IMPROVE EMERGENCY RESPONSE TIMES, AND (III) PROVIDE ADEQUATE STORAGE OF FLEET AND EQUIPMENT, REPLACEMENT OF OUTDATED MECHANICAL SYSTEMS, IMPROVED DECONTAMINATION AND TRAINING SPACES AND ON-SITE SLEEPING QUARTERS; AND TO PROVIDE LONG-TERM FUNDING FOR FIRE PROTECTION, AND WILDFIRE, HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, TECHNICAL RESCUE, MEDICAL, AND OTHER EMERGENCY RESPONSE OPERATIONS, LARGELY PERFORMED BY VOLUNTEERS; WHICH INCREASE (A) SHALL NOT BECOME EFFECTIVE UNTIL SUCH TIME THAT THE GUNNISON COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT RECEIVES VOTER APPROVAL FOR A SIMILAR TAX; (B) SHALL BE IN ADDITION TO OTHER TAXES CURRENTLY IMPOSED BY THE CITY; AND (C) SHALL CONSTITUTE VOTER-APPROVED REVENUE CHANGES WITHIN THE MEANING OF ARTICLE X, SECTION 20 OF THE COLORADO CONSTITUTION?
